Over use syndrome

Is a group of conditions affecting different joints of the body all are due to over (or miss) using the affected joint. An injury (tear) that occurred gradually to a tendon or ligament due to repetitive daily activities. Normally the body can repair these damages if given a good time of rest.

 

Tennis Elbow

It is a tear to the muscle origin of common extensors for the wrist. It occurs commonly to tennis players  or to anybody overusing these muscles like workers (using screw driver, hammer, …etc) or housewives while using the kitchen knife.

Treatment

  • Rest (avoid the painful movement).
  • Hot appliance.
  • Pain killer (as prescribed by your doctor).
  • Local steroid injection (given by your doctor).

Plantar Fasciitis (Calcaneal Spur)

Characterized by heel pain most severe in the first step after waking up in the morning.

It is an inflammation in the area due to standing or walking for long distances especially if the shoes are not soft.

Treatment

  • Changing the shoes (or using silicon insoles).
  • Avoid standing or walking for long duration.
  • Pain killer (as prescribed by your doctor).
  • Local steroid injection (given by your doctor).
